Average rent up 4.6%, to $1,167

The average rent in Southern California rose to $1,167 at the end of September, up 4.6% from a year earlier, according to RealFacts, a Novato-based research firm that surveys apartment complexes.
In Los Angeles County, the average apartment rent rose 3.3% to $1,295, up 5.8% from a year ago. In Orange County, average rent rose 1.6% to $1,232; in the Inland Empire, it rose 1.4% to $875.
