Man Pleads Not Guilty to Threatening Reporter

Alexander Proctor, accused of threatening a Los Angeles Times reporter working on a story about an alleged Mafia extortion plot against actor Steven Seagal, pleaded not guilty Monday at his arraignment in federal court.
U.S. District Judge Gary A. Feess set an initial hearing for Nov. 18.
Proctor, 58, is being held without bail for allegedly breaking a window of a car belonging to reporter Anita M. Busch, and leaving a package containing a dead fish with a long-stemmed rose in its mouth. A cardboard placard with the word “STOP” also was affixed to her car.
