MINNEAPOLIS — Forense cataloga muerte de Floyd como homicidio; dice que su corazón se detuvo mientras policías lo tenían inmovilizado.
Autopsia ordenada por familia afirma que George Floyd murió por asfixia
La autopsia ordenada por la familia de George Floyd, el afroamericano que murió hace hoy una semana a manos de un policía blanco cuando era detenido en Minneapolis (Minnesota), afirma que perdió la vida por “asfixia debido a una presión sostenida”.
De acuerdo con ese informe médico, “hubo una compresión del cuello y de la espalda que llevaron a una falta de riego sanguíneo al cerebro” de Floyd, anunció el abogado de la familia de la víctima, Benjamin Crump, en una rueda de prensa.

Los forenses agregan en su informe que “el peso sobre la espalda, las esposas y la postura fueron factores que contribuyeron porque paralizaron la capacidad del diafragma del señor Floyd de funcionar”.
Los transeúntes que se encontraban en el lugar del suceso grabaron con las cámaras de sus móviles un vídeo en el que se ve al policía Derek Chauvin presionando el cuello de Floyd con una rodilla durante casi nueve minutos y las quejas de éste de que no podía respirar.

Los resultados de la autopsia ordenada por la familia difieren del informe sobre el examen médico preliminar que se hizo a Floyd y que se incluyó en la denuncia contra Chauvin, que fue detenido la semana pasada y acusado de asesinato en tercer grado y homicidio imprudente.
Esa autopsia no encontró “hallazgos físicos que apoyen el diagnóstico de una asfixia traumática o estrangulamiento”.
Además, en dicho documento se insinuaba que algunos problemas físicos de Floyd, como dolencias arteriales y de corazón combinados con la inmovilización que la policía le hizo y algún “estupefaciente potencial en su sistema” contribuyeron a su muerte.
El asesinato de Floyd ha desencadenado una serie de protestas y disturbios, que empezaron en Minneapolis y que luego se extendieron por todo el país.
Durante la rueda de prensa en la que se informó de los resultados de la autopsia ordenada por la familia también se anunció que se instalará un velatorio en Houston (Texas), donde vive su familia, el próximo lunes, 8 de junio, y que al día siguiente, martes, se celebrará el funeral.
Pero antes, este jueves, 4 de junio, se celebrarán exequias en Minneapolis, donde Floyd residía cuando falleció, y también en Carolina del Norte -donde nació-, el sábado, 6 de junio.
