Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near Petrolia, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Monday 12 miles from Petrolia, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 10:10 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 11.8 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 28 miles from Fortuna, Calif., 39 miles from Eureka, Calif. and 44 miles from Bayside, Calif.
In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
