Little League Fiesta Day set for Saturday
Laguna Beach Little League will celebrate the closing of its 2004
regular season Saturday with Fiesta Day festivities at Riddle Field.
The In & Out Burger truck, giant slide, dunk tank, and speed pitch
will begin the day at 10 a.m., followed by closing ceremonies at
noon.
The league invites the Laguna Beach community to join in and honor
its players, managers, coaches, team moms and all the volunteers who
made the 2004 season a success.
Laguna Beach duo claims division titles
Laguna Beach High varsity cross country, water polo, and swim
teammates Breanna Duplisea and Kat Gordon brought home the gold from
the Kring and Chung Newport Beach Triathlon.
Duplisea won the 15-and-Under Division and Kat Gordon took
first-place in 18-and-Under and was third, overall, among all female
competitors in this, her first triathlon.
The sprint distance triathlon was open to individuals, relay
teams, collegians and elites and offered a flat water swim in the
Back Bay of Newport Beach and new in 2004 was a cycle and run through
the city.
The triathlon consisted of a half-mile swim, 13-mile cycle and
three-mile run.
Two summer tennis camps to be offered
Beginning and intermediate tennis players will be able to hone
their skills in two upcoming camps offered in Laguna Beach.
Pee Wee, Junior, Teen and Competitor tennis camps, with
instruction from Julie Heussenstamm and other coaches, will be held
from June 21 through July 9, and from July 12 to 29.
The camps will be divided into the following times:
Beginner and Intermediate Pee Wee (ages 5 to 7), 9 to 9:50 a.m.
Beginner and Intermediate Juniors (ages 7 to 12), 10 to 10:50 a.m.
Beginner and Intermediate Teens (ages 11 to 18), 11 to 11:50 a.m.
Junior Competitors (ages 8 to 12), 8 to 10 a.m.
Teen Competitors (ages 12 to 18), 8 to 10 a.m.
Registration can be taken through the city of Laguna Beach
Recreation Dept., or by calling Heussenstamm at (949) 497-4850.
