Sammy’s gets honor for service
Local business winners were announced, and Sammy’s Burgers won top
honors as Laguna Beach High School’s Dignity, Appreciation, Respect
for Treating Students committee award was announced at a recent Board
of Education meeting.
DARTS is a high school committee with two student representatives
from each class. Also serving on the committee is Supt. Theresa Daem,
Executive Assistant to the Supt. Darrin Reed and ASB President Jake
Wheeler. Advising the committee is Laguna Beach High School teacher
Art Smart.
Students nominated businesses that welcomed teenage customers,
served good food, employed students and treated teen customers with
dignity and respect.
District holds first father-son conference
The Laguna Beach Unified School District recently held its first
annual father-son conference.
The event, which was co-chaired by Assistant Supt. Steve Keller
and Community Liaison, Ricardo Gallegos, was held May 22 at Thurston
Middle School. The event included workshops like “Our Family Culture
in Education,” “Building Self-Esteem,” “Going to College,” “Ethics of
Care,” “Tough Love,” and “Everything in Between.”
