Harbor View boys claim relay title

The Harbor View boys swim team claimed first place while the Harbor

View girls took second at the South Coast Swim Conference relay

finals Saturday.

The Harbor View boys earned 328 points, finishing 60 points ahead

of second-place Green Valley. Harbor View won the 6-and-under, 7-8,

and 9-10 divisions. Harbor View boys in the 6-and-under and 7-8

divisions won every event.

Luke Wyatt, Robert Naruse, Benny Brooks and Justin Hanson

(6-and-under) set a division record in the 100-yard backstroke with a

time of 1:35.87.

In the girls 7-8 division, Harbor View’s Ellen Naruse, Katie

Craig, Regina Scholey and Jules Pouch set a new mark in the 100

backstroke in 1:15.81.

The Green Valley girls scored 654 points to come in first while

Harbor View earned 574. Newport Hills placed fourth with 424.

Harbor View was without several swimmers, including Corona del Mar

High’s Ashley Chandler, the reigning Pacific Coast League champion in

the 50 freestyle, in the girls 15-18 division due to a water polo

tournament.
