49ers finish fast for eighth in a row

Casper Ware scored 26 points and T.J. Robinson had 19 points and 19 rebounds to lead Long Beach State to a 71-53 victory over visiting UC Santa Barbara on Saturday night, the season-high eighth win in a row for the 49ers.
The 49ers (19-10 Big West Conference, 13-2) used a late 20-0 run to turn a 51-49 game into a 71-49 romp.
Ware made four of nine three-pointers and 12 of 14 free throws. Orlando Johnson scored 18 points for the Gauchos (14-13, 7-8), who lost their third in a row.
Long Beach State outrebounded UC Santa Barbara, 49-29, and made 21 of 28 free throws to only five of eight for the Gauchos.
at UC Irvine 97, Pacific 86: Eric Wise had 25 points and 12 rebounds as the Anteaters won their second double-overtime game in less than 48 hours. Irvine (13-17, 6-9), which defeated UC Davis in two OTs on Thursday night, secured a place in the Big West tournament.
Darren Moore added 21 points for Irvine, getting five points in the second overtime. Terrell Smith led Pacific (16-12, 8-6) with 23 points.
at UC Riverside 85, UC Davis 81: Kevin Bradshaw scored 23 points to lead the Highlanders (10-17, 5-9 Big West), who overcame 35 points from UC Davis’ Eddie Miller to end a five-game losing streak. Riverside moved two games ahead of the Aggies (9-19, 3-11) for the eighth and final spot in the Big West tournament with two games remaining.
Cal Poly SLO 75, at Cal State Fullerton 70: David Hanson had 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Mustangs (15-13, 10-5 Big West). The Titans fell to 9-19, 5-9.
at San Francisco 77, Loyola Marymount 75: Cody Doolin’s three-point basket with 50 seconds left gave the Dons (16-13, 10-4, West Coast Conference) the lead against the Lions (10-20, 2-12). Drew Viney scored 22 points and Vernon Teel had 21 with eight rebounds for Loyola.
at Santa Clara 71, Pepperdine 68: Marc Trasolini scored 21 points and Evan Roquemore made four free throws in the final 40 seconds to help the Broncos (18-13, 8-6 WCC) complete their first sweep of the Waves since 1984. Lorne Jackson had 23 points for Pepperdine (11-20, 5-9), which lost its fourth in a row.
Seattle 73, at Cal State Bakersfield 54: The Roadrunners (9-17) shot only 32.1% from the field and were outscored 26-12 in the paint. Chad Rasmussen scored 24 points off the bench for the Redhawks (11-17).
Women
No. 11 UCLA 61, at Arizona State 45: Jasmine Dixon had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Bruins (24-3, 14-2 Pacific 10) to their ninth win in 10 games. Atonye Nyingifa added 15 points and seven rebounds. The Sun Devils (17-9, 9-7), who had won three in a row, shot only 30% from the field.
at Arizona 84, USC 74: Briana Gilbreath had a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Trojans (16-11, 8-8 Pac-10), but the Wildcats (17-10, 8-8) fought off USC’s second-half comeback in a foul-plagued game. Five Wildcats scored in double figures, led by Davellyn Whyte with 19 points. Arizona made 29 of 38 free throws to 17 of 23 for the Trojans.
