Update: USC is bidding for its fifth consecutive victory in the crosstown rivalry, something that hasn’t happened since the Trojans won 42 consecutive games against UCLA from 1932 to 1943. But USC has been a team on the decline since its 63-52 victory over the Bruins last month, losing four of six games to fall into a tie with Stanford for sixth place in the Pac-10. One bit of good news for the Trojans: UCLA Coach Ben Howland said he was unlikely to have his team play zone defense, something that has given USC fits for most of the season.
