Florida: Rent a car for $5 a day and see the country
- Share via
Ready for a nice long road trip? Get a rental car in Florida and drive it for as little as $5 per day as far as Maine or New Mexico with unlimited mileage and no drop-off fees.
The deal: The Florida Drive for $5 from Hertz requires a one-way rental to begin at selected company locations in Florida. Check out the offer’s Web page to view all possible return locations in other states.
Bear in mind that the $5-per-day rate for economy and compact cars doesn’t include fees and taxes. Rentals at this rate are good for up to 14 days, and not every Hertz outlet is participating in the offer. Make a reservation for this offer online using the rate code “DRV5.”
When: Good for one-way rentals at select locations from April 24 through June 12; blackout dates may apply.
Tested: I checked the Hertz website and found a two- or four-door compact car (in this case, a Chevrolet Cobalt or equivalent) for the $5-per-day rate from May 4 to 11. I checked on renting the car at Miami International Airport and returning it to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The total cost, with additions such as airport concession fees, facility charges and taxes, was $105 for the whole period.
