LAN Airlines has a deal for travelers heading to Peru this spring: Fly round trip from the U.S. to any of 11 cities within that country for the price of a round-trip ticket to Lima. In effect, you get free domestic airfare to see spectacular Incan ruins near places such as Cuzco and Tumbes.
The deal: The deal includes free domestic connections to Arequipa, Cajamarca, Chiclayo, Cuzco, Piura, Pucalpa, Puerto Maldonado, Tacna, Tarapoto, Trujillo and Tumbes. The round-trip fare for all destinations starts at $882 plus taxes and fees. Note that flights transit through Lima.
When: The offer is good for travel March 1 to June 15, but tickets must be purchased by March 15.
Tested: I went to LAN’s website and found the offer available for a June 1-8 round-trip flight from Los Angeles to Cusco. I found a slightly lower base rate than advertised. The total price came to $958, including taxes and fees. Prices vary according to the dates and flights selected. You can make reservations online, by phone or through a travel agent.
Note that some U.S. airports are not included this deal, including Atlanta, Dallas and Houston.
Contact: LAN Airlines, (866) 435-9526, or visit a travel agent.
