A resident enjoys a slice of fresh watermelon in the old-town area of Kashgar, China, in this photograph from Los Angeles Times reader “jenkins.iain.”
Kashgar lies on China’s western edge, not far from Kyrgyzstan and a sliver of Afghanistan. According to this Newsweek article, Beijing is trying to turn this rural city into the Los Angeles of China.
On Monday, we featured another reader photo: Millennium Park in Chicago.
